FAQ
Wholesale Membership
Who can purchase from the Kamoka Wholesale website?
Kamoka Wholesale is available to a limited number of approved jewelry retailers, designers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and other qualified trade professionals.
How do I apply for a wholesale account?
Complete the wholesale application form and provide information about your business. Applications are reviewed by our team prior to approval.
Why can't everyone be approved immediately?
To maintain the quality, service, and relationships that have defined Kamoka for more than 30 years, we intentionally limit the number of wholesale partners we onboard at any given time. Unlike large distributors, our inventory is tied directly to the annual production of our farm and our network of carefully selected pearl producers. We would rather grow slowly than compromise on quality, consistency, or service.
What happens if my application is not approved right away?
Qualified applicants may be placed on a waitlist. We review inventory levels and supply capacity on a monthly basis and invite new partners to join the program as additional pearls become available.
Why is wholesale inventory limited?
Because demand for our pearls remains strong and production is naturally limited, only a portion of our inventory is allocated to wholesale sales.
Using the Wholesale Portal
Are the pearls shown online the exact pearls I will receive?
Not necessarily. Our wholesale portal is designed to make sourcing pearls as simple and efficient as possible by allowing customers to shop based on size, shape, and quality characteristics. While we strive to ensure that the pearls you receive closely match the examples shown, individual pearls will naturally vary. If precise color, overtone, matching, or other specific characteristics are critical to your project, we recommend using our Private Selection Service.
Can I view pearls before purchasing?
For customers who require detailed review of specific pearls before purchase, we recommend using our Private Selection Service. Through this service, we can provide additional photos, videos, and personalized consultations to help ensure the pearls meet your exact requirements.

About Tahitian Pearls & Quality
What makes a Tahitian pearl different from other cultured pearls?
Tahitian pearls are produced by the black-lipped oyster (Pinctada margaritifera) in the lagoons of French Polynesia. Unlike many other pearl varieties, Tahitian pearls naturally occur in a remarkable range of colors including silver, green, peacock, blue, aubergine, and charcoal. They are prized for their natural colors, exceptional luster, and thick nacre.
What is a Keshi pearl?
A Keshi pearl is a pearl that forms without a nucleus during the culturing process. Because they are composed entirely of nacre, Keshi pearls are known for their intense luster, unique shapes, and distinctive character. Each Keshi pearl is naturally one-of-a-kind.
Are Kamoka pearls sustainably farmed?
Yes. Sustainability has been at the heart of Kamoka's work for more than three decades. Our family farm has long been recognized as a leader in ecological pearl farming. Healthy pearl oysters require healthy ecosystems, which is why we invest heavily in regenerative farming practices that support both pearl production and lagoon health. Today, we are also working with neighboring family-owned farms to help expand these practices throughout French Polynesia.
How durable are Tahitian pearls?
Tahitian pearls are among the most durable cultured pearls available. With proper care, they can be enjoyed for generations. Like all pearls, they should be protected from harsh chemicals, excessive heat, and abrasive surfaces. When properly cared for, fine Tahitian pearls are suitable for regular wear and can become treasured heirlooms.
How thick is the nacre on Kamoka pearls?
Nacre thickness is one of the most important factors affecting a pearl's beauty and longevity. Our goal is to offer pearls with a minimum nacre thickness of 1.0 mm, though many of the pearls we offer exceed this standard. Thick nacre contributes to stronger luster, greater durability, and long term value.
Do Kamoka pearls come with certificates of authenticity?
Every wholesale order includes a certificate confirming the authenticity and origin of the pearls purchased. For customers who would like to provide certificates alongside finished jewelry pieces, additional individual certificates may be requested for an additional fee.
Why do similar pearls sometimes vary in price?
Pearls are natural gems and no two are identical. Factors such as luster, surface quality, shape, color, overtone, matching, rarity, and overall desirability all influence value. Two pearls may appear similar in size or description while differing significantly in quality and price.
Pearl Sourcing
Where are Kamoka pearls sourced?
Kamoka pearls are sourced directly from our family farm on Ahe Atoll in French Polynesia, as well as from a growing network of neighboring family owned farms that meet our quality and ecological standards.
